MP supports stubbing out smoking

HELPING smokers to quit was under discussion when Redditch MP Jacqui Smith met with the chief executive and chairman of Worcestershire Primary Care Trust (PCT). Ms Smith discussed the help available to smokers who want to give up smoking from No Smoking Day, which falls today, with Paul Bates and Dr Bryan Smith. In Worcestershire there is support available to help smokers break their dependence on nicotine. Quit Smoking Clinics offer weekly appointments with specialist nurses, nicotine replacement products and support and advice. "Most smokers say they would quit if they could - I want to do as much as I can to help them. That is why I am proud to support No Smoking Day and the ban on smoking in public places and the ban on smoking adverts," she said.
